Runner in Vista is the Corporate Social Responsibility project devised by Savills for its shopping centres: a non-competitive run that brings sighted and visually impaired people together to run side by side, transforming an everyday activity into an experience of inclusion and sharing. A nationwide initiative involving 11 shopping centres and over 2,000 participants, with all funds raised donated in full to the UICI – the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted. An event that needed a digital portal worthy of its values: open to everyone, truly.

The website, commissioned by Proxima Spa, served as the central hub for the entire event: an online registration portal, a source of information for each individual stage, and a bridge between the national organisation and the local level of the shopping centres. A digital infrastructure designed to be usable by everyone — sighted, partially sighted and blind people alike — and to support a project that has won even the sector’s highest accolades, from the ‘Best of the Best’ at the CNCC Italy Awards to the symbolic presentation of the official T-shirt to Pope Francis. This confirms that, when accessibility truly becomes part of a project’s DNA, digital technology can cease to be merely a channel and become part of the message itself.

SEO, UX and accessibility: an integrated project

For a project that puts accessibility at its heart, the website was no exception. We oversaw the entire UI/UX and development process, building a platform that complies with WCAG guidelines: carefully calibrated contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, a semantic structure designed for screen readers, clear hierarchies and streamlined paths to access information in just a few steps. The result is a website where form does more than merely convey inclusivity; it puts it into practice — in keeping with the spirit of Runner in Vista, where everyone runs at the same pace as one another.
