The evening, which will take place on Thursday 2 July at 9:30 pm, will also have a significant charitable purpose: the entire proceeds from the event will be donated to SA.Re – a local healthcare project, supporting the purchase of an ultrasound scanner for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward of the IRCCS Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova in Reggio Emilia

In the setting of the Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia, the pianist and musicologist Emanuele Ferrari presents Musicainscena: a format he devised in which the concert becomes storytelling, the lecture becomes performance, and the act of listening is transformed. An evening dedicated to Frédéric Chopin, in which Ferrari brings together three dimensions in a single experience: the rigour of the musicologist, the sensitivity of the concert performer and the communicative power of the actor.

Through narration, analysis and live performance, the audience steps inside the work, discovering its meanings, images and compositional secrets. At its heart is the Barcarolle Op. 60, one of the masterpieces of Chopin’s maturity. The strength of Musicainscena lies in making complex music accessible without simplifying it: at the end the piece is performed again in full, and often the audience, surprised by their newfound awareness, asks: «Was it really the same piece?».

Emanuele Ferrari is a pianist, a researcher in Musicology and the History of Music at the University of Milan-Bicocca and a lecturer in Music and Music Education. He has given concerts, lectures and masterclasses across Europe, Latin America and the United States, performing at leading cultural and musical institutions. The author of numerous essays and monographs, he received the Silver Award at the Reimagine Education Awards in Philadelphia for the originality of his artistic and educational work. He also teaches at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

The evening also has a significant charitable purpose: the entire proceeds will be donated to SA.Re – a local healthcare project, supporting the purchase of an ultrasound scanner for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology ward of the IRCCS Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova in Reggio Emilia. The initiative, born from the drive and promotion of the Romani family of Reggio Emilia, was made possible also thanks to the contribution of partner companies Simertec and Ventisette Digital Communication, bringing together culture, business and a concrete gesture of closeness to the local area. We are proud to have been part of it.
